Orbit is a community-driven events app designed to turn shared interests into real-world experiences. It helps people discover communities they resonate with and attend events that actually feel relevant, blending interest-based discovery with local gatherings so meeting people around ideas, culture, and passions feels natural instead of forced.

Project Goal

Orbit exists to close the gap between online interest and offline presence. People don't just struggle to find events, they struggle to find the right people and the right context to show up. The goal is to create one space where people can discover communities, see what's happening around them, and move from interest to action with ease.

The Problem

Modern social platforms focus heavily on content but very little on connection. Communities are scattered, events feel disconnected from the people attending them, and discovering meaningful gatherings takes effort across multiple apps. As a result, many interests stay digital and never translate into real moments.

The Solution

Orbit brings communities and events into a single focused experience. It organizes people around shared interests first, then surfaces events as extensions of those communities. This makes discovery intentional, participation effortless, and real-world connections more accessible.

User Research

Research centered on users aged 18-30 across creative, tech, and student backgrounds. The biggest barriers were safety and trust concerns, fear of judgment, and social anxiety, while the strongest motivations were making new friends, discovering local activities, and reducing loneliness.

User Flow

The experience moves from onboarding into a Home screen, branching into five core paths: Communities, Events, Chats, Profile, and Create Community, each designed to move someone from discovery to real-world action in as few steps as possible.

Outcome

Orbit explores how a community platform can prioritize trust and genuine connection over passive content consumption, turning shared interests into real gatherings instead of another feed to scroll through.
